The slogan of "Long Live Sindh" reverberated throughout the province including Karachi as thousands of people wearing Sindhi caps and Ajraks celebrated 'Sindh Culture Day' with traditional zeal and zest here on Friday. The culture day was announced by some sections of Sindhi media which was supported by PML-F, PML-N Sindh chapter, nationalist parties and civil society. The day marked in befitting manner in all cities and towns of the province.

In Karachi, several colourful events were organised and rallies were taken out by political parties, civil society organisations and schoolchildren, wherein people wearing Sindhi caps and Ajraks danced to the tunes of Sindhi songs that propagated the message of love with the motherland.

People from all walks of life, holding flags and banners, flocked to the Karachi Press Club (KPC) to take part in events where artists and singers performed and sang songs. Several Sindhi media houses set up camps outside the KPC, where workers of political parties, including PML-N, PML-F, Awami Tehreek, Sindh Tarqi Pasand Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and members of civil society gathered to mark the day.

PML-N leader Zain Ansari, Khialdaas Kohistani and Raja Ansari along with their party workers attended the celebrations and distributed Sindhi caps and Ajraks among the media persons and others. Talking to Business Recorder, Khialdaas Kohistani said that the traditions of Sindh were 5,000 years old and they were proud of their traditions.

The PPP-led coalition government in Sindh had announced its support to the call of celebrating December 21 as Sindh Culture Day. It may be noted here that a Sindhi media house would also celebrate Sindh cultural day on December 23, tomorrow, by organising cultural events thought the province and a major event outside the KPC.
